Microtopping was chosen as the floor covering for the new Mullen Lowe HQ in Bucharest, the Romanian branch of the famous international advertising agency, in a setting with extremely simple but creative, original and impressive decor.
The building is characterised by a simple yet colourfully designed space, inspired by two famous literary works: “Alice in Wonderland” and “The Little Prince.”
The floors on all of the agency’s 4 floors was coated with Microtopping micro-cement, in 4 different shades.
If creativity is fundamental for a communications agency, their space should be decorated to stimulate the difficult but enjoyable art of the imagination. For this, the architects at the Manole Zece studio, who oversaw the project for the new Mullen Lowe headquarters in Bucharest, wanted to characterise the space with a creative and playful décor.
At the start of the project, at the stage when the interior design solution was being evaluated, the designers had to deal with the peculiarities of the existing space: low height in all four planes and a fragmented facade. Another factor they had to take into account was the plural nature of Lowe & Partners, Romania, a group of seven different companies, each with its own characteristics. It was necessary, therefore, to find a common approach to give unity to the space, plus a few specific details to differentiate their environments.
The interior space features a Scandinavian minimalist design which revolves around two fantasy novels, both rich in symbolic meanings: “The Little Prince” and “Alice in Wonderland”.
